Have you ever noticed how some days one bad thing leads to another until you finally declare that you cannot wait to go to bed and end that terrible day? Because of the universal Law of Attraction, the energy we’re emitting attracts to it energies similar in nature. If something gets you off kilter in the morning and you allow it to bring your energy down, you could be setting yourself up for a day of challenges.
“It is imperative to start each morning on YOUR TERMS.”
Knowing that the morning often sets the stage for the rest of the day, it’s imperative to start each morning on YOUR TERMS. How do you want to show up each day? How do you want to feel? Intentionally start each morning that way and watch how it brings more of the same throughout the rest of the day.
Several years ago I worked as a partner in a boutique commercial real estate services firm. My very first action every morning, even before going to the bathroom or brushing my teeth, was to look at my phone and see what important messages may have come in overnight. Did one of my clients need something? Was I being responsive enough? What can I do to help??
“I can’t think of a better way to lose your own mind/body connection than to
make someone else a higher priority than yourself.”
Hmmmm, see a problem here? I was letting other people dictate how my day started. If they needed something, that was my signal to “jump” and make their solution my first priority of the day. My first priority wasn’t centering myself or setting intentions for my day. My first priority was helping my clients with whatever their latest issues might be. The bigger their issue, the bigger I jumped that morning. Looking back, I can’t think of a better way to lose your own mind/body connection than to make someone else (or multiple people) a higher priority than yourself.
My morning routine now is something I cherish and on the rare occasion when I skip it, I can tell a difference in my state of mind throughout the day. Things feel more rushed and I feel more “reactionary” rather than mindful on those skipped days.
“Only after I connect to my inner world do I turn my phone on and
begin to interact with the outer world.”
My morning routine tends to change every few weeks/months based on what I feel I need. My current morning routine consists of doing a 7 minute yoga routine followed by a 5 minute daily energy routine where I tap on certain meridian points to energize me and get my energies flowing correctly. At the end of those 12 minutes I feel energized, centered, optimistic, and ready to start my day. Only after I connect to my inner world do I turn my phone on and begin to interact with the outer world.
Do you have a daily morning routine? If not, wake up 10 minutes earlier tomorrow morning and do whatever feels good to YOU. Maybe you simply drink a cup of tea and read a chapter of your favorite book. Or do some gentle stretching. Maybe you sit cross legged and simply focus on your breathing, feeling your belly grow with each inhale and fall with each exhale. Just the simple act of making YOU the top priority of your morning will start to shift things more toward self care and away from putting others ahead of your own needs. Your relationship with yourself is your most important relationship, and all others build on that. Nurture that relationship and watch how the others tend to fall more in place.

After taking a walk around our beautiful neighborhood, I do “earthing” (bare feet, touching a tree) and have incorporated the following I have learned from you and some of the Dallas Women’s Circle speakers, incorporating it into my individual perspective: Drink 16 oz. lemon water facing the sun, blessing it and giving thanks, the crossover exercises, energy release “Heaven & Earth” Setting intentions to my highest good and the highest good of all. Sometimes when I’m truly centered, I’ll do an energy ball of support to humanity or to everyone working to keep the blessings of our way of life going like healthcare workers, etc.
